Best Ladder Leveler for Roof

Best Ladder Leveler for Roof

Most ladder-related accidents can be prevented by using every trick in the book to level ladders on steep/high roofs.

A handy solution for many people- and a must-have when inspecting your pitched roof/handling minor repairs – is a ladder leveler for roof. And as you’ll note later, some models also make nice tool caddies for your extension ladder.

In short, I’m a big fan of using ladder levelers whenever I have work on steeply sloped roofs, stairs, steps, and other awkward set-up locations.

Here are my two favorite picks:

Best ladder leveler for roof

These are the safest, most convenient, and cost-effective solutions when you want to ascend your slanted rooftop with confidence.

1. ProVisionTools PiViT ladder leveler for roof – 500 pounds weight capacity

The ProVisionTools ladder leveler is my best pick due to its simple-to-use design and a sea of brilliant features. In fact, I doubt there’s a ladder leveler easier and simpler to use than this jewel- there are no clamps or bolts to struggle with so it sets up in seconds.

Plus, it’s completely adjustable and universal – it instantly levels any type of ladder, including step ladders. The tool’s patented construction includes tons of rubber-made “gripper feet” for the perfect grip on shingles and unmatched slip resistance on roofs, stairways, and exterior inclines!

The conveyor belt material – on each corner- helps minimize movement too, no matter how steep your roof is.

This ProVisionTools ladder leveler is also helpful when you want to access the higher roof of your 2-story house using a ladder placed on a lower-level sloped roof.

It actually has five other practical functions -use it as a ladder shelf, ladder jack, ladder stabilizer, tool carrier, or ladder stand-off!

Wow, what a find!

Boat dock innovations easy climb ladder

Pros

  • Sturdy and dependable.
  • Fantastic grip.
  • Durable accessory- made from tough polypropylene.

Cons

  • Somewhat overpriced.

2. Ladder-Max “Original” Stabilizer/Leveler Combo

Lightweight, friendly, and reliable, this Ladder-Max “Original” Stabilizer/Leveler Combo is my best value pick.

The Quick Connect Leveler Kit extends about 10 inches once attached to the ladder- simply drill a couple of holes and fix it to your ladder to have it adapt the ladder to the slope.

The instructions are pretty clear so this should not bother you. You can place it anywhere on the roof once mounted as the rubber feet will protect your shingles and siding.

The stabilizer makes your ladder much safer- you get a 19″ standoff distance, making your ladder more stable while protecting your gutters. It installs in seconds too.

The combo works on nearly any ladder and is one of the safest platforms out there (It’s ANSI certified).

What ladder should I use for painting a two story house?

Pros

  • Won’t add a lot of weight to your ladder.
  • The leveler never slips and the ladder stays secure.
  • Protects your gutters.

Cons

  • It still seems a tad expensive.

Leveling ladders for roof work- other safety devices

Here are a couple of more tools to help you steady your ladder and stay safe while climbing up and down from your high-pitched roof.

Use the appropriate ones alongside your ladder leveler for roof if you want more peace of mind.

a) ProVisionTools RoofBoot Roof Bracket

This is more than a roof bracket and can be a terrific tool to have when it comes to steep roofs.

You see, this acts as a solid stopper for ladders – the last thing you want is the base of your ladder sliding – and can be another powerful shield against falls.

You cannot afford to work without this if you’ll be using the PiViT Ladder Tool to level your ladder on an asphalt shingled roof with a 7/12(or greater) pitch- it perfectly secures the PiViT for extra protection.

The Roof Boot is sold in pairs and you install it by just lifting the shingles and then nailing it to your roof through the three (3) teardrop holes.

Please bear in mind that the RoofBoot is not required if the pitch of your asphalt shingle roof is less than 7/12.

Side Note: You can also use a pair of PiViT Ladder leveler Tools in conjunction with a set of RoofBoots to create a practical working platform.

b) Guardian Fall Protection  Ladder Stability Anchor

For the most part, OSHA regulations require that you secure your ladder -at its top to a rigid aid/support that won’t deflect if the length of the ladder prevents the rails from extending at least 3 ft.(.9 m) above an upper roof or similar landing surfaces.

This accessory helps you comply with this regulation and can go a long way in enhancing your safety when getting on and off steep-slope roofs. The tool clamps onto the fascia board and then you use the straps to attach it to the ladder.

You don’t need any special tools to mount it – it indeed takes a few seconds to attach.

Try it for more stability.

c) Guardian Fall Protection Safe-T Ladder Extension

Transitioning from or to a ladder when working on a sloping roof has been identified as a persistent hazard for ladder users.

That is because you transfer your weight onto the ladder as you step between the top of your ladder and the roof surface when transitioning, thus applying significant horizontal pressure on the ladder.

This can cause the ladder to tip sideways, flip, and lose top contact resulting in a possibly devastating fall.

This Fall Protection Ladder Extension System will make your life easier when dismounting from your extension ladder onto pitched roofs. You attach the handles over your ladder (at the top) to establish a safer and easier transition from ladders to the roof.

Like most of the tools we have recommended here, it’s exceptionally easy to install- you can even tighten it onto the ladder by hand! Climbing extension ladders on steep roofs come with a higher potential for losing balance and falls, so you’ll want to do everything right.

Follow basic roofing ladder safety measures and use a ladder leveler for the roof (plus other necessities) to reduce your chances of injury.

As always, it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety guidelines carefully when using the above tools on sloped roofs.
