Best Faucet Water Filters for Drinking Water

3 Best Faucet Water Filters for Drinking Water

When you need filtered water on demand, it can be quite difficult to depend on the bottled options all the time.

Using a water filter pitcher is an option that lets you serve clean water on the spot. But when the supply runs out, you have to refill the pitcher and then serve yourself again.

The easiest way to get clean water when you need it the most is to get the best faucet water filters. A faucet water filter isn’t an expensive investment and its benefits far outweigh the price tag attached to whatever model you choose.

Generally, a good faucet water filtration uses a combination of filters and water pressure to lower the amount of contaminants that would otherwise make city and well water difficult to consume. By filtering out lead, mercury, and chlorine, you end up with clean, tasty water for drinking, cooking, and cleaning.

We hand-tested six faucet water filters to determine their performance efficiency. While all the models are generally good for their price points, we picked only the best ones for this review.

Let’s have a look.

The Best Faucet Water Filters for drinking water Reviews

1. Waterdrop Faucet Water Filter- most effective faucet water filter

This faucet water filter is compact, strong to the touch, durable, and easy to install. For such a sheer price point, we initially expected it to last only a couple of weeks ready for replacement. It surpassed our expectations after two months of testing.

And we’re quite pleased that the water you get from the tap is clean and flavorful. The water from the filter comes out in a spray. And don’t worry; you won’t lose any water pressure with this one.

Waterdrop is a well-made faucet water filter and it comes at a price point that’s a total bargain. Based on our observation, the design is quite standard yet dependable.

The model includes a simple switch that allows you to swap between filtered and regular tap water. The leak-proof technology bars water from dripping from the setup.

Keep in mind that this water filter is only compatible with standard faucets. So if you have spray style, handheld, sensor-enabled, or pull-out faucets, you should look for a different filter.

The performance of the Waterdrop faucet water filter exceeded our expectations, therefore scoring a decent editorial rating. Once installed, the filter stayed in place with the anti-leak technology barring the possibility of even the tiniest droplets of water.

We’ve had this model for about two and a half months at the time of this review, and we must admit that it’s no doubt a long-lasting pick. Its service life stands at 3 months or at least 320 gallons of clean water before you need to change the filter.

That’s definitely a good deal for a faucet filter on budget.

The quality of water that you get from the filter is different from what you get from the tap. Generally, the Waterdrop faucet filter effectively removes contaminants such as lead and fluoride from tap water, making it soft, healthy, and tasteful for consumption.

Water does flow quite well out of the filter.  And while the pressure isn’t as much as what you get from the tap, it’s good enough to fill around four 17 ounces of water bottles in just 60 seconds.

Even the innovative ACF material escalates the process, making sure that you have pure soft water almost in what seems like an instant.

The switch added to the design is there for a reason. At the very least, it allows you to switch between soft and hard water.

But more importantly, it plays a part in extending the life of the filter. So on the days when you feel like normal tap water can do the cleaning and laundry, simply flip the switch and you’re good to go.

  • Includes a switch for swapping between filtered and tap water
  • Anti-leak proof technology offers a maximum shield against water drops
  • Delivers more soft water at the rate of 0.5 GPM

  • It’s unfortunate that it works only with standard faucets

2. DuPont Faucet Mount Water Filter

Even if you buy it based on the rating or because you need a faucet water filter fast, the DuPont is a unit worth the gamble.

Based on our hands-on testing, this device takes terrible water, filters out the impurities, and makes the water taste great.

With DuPont, you change tap water from bad to great taste and from a terrible smell to no odor at all. Another reason to buy this cheap faucet water filter is that once you have it fixed on a tap, you’ll never have to buy bottled water again.

From a design standpoint, DuPont is no doubt a well-made model at a lower price point. It’s not a perfect make in our opinion, especially because plastic tends to be fragile.

But it’s at least good enough for the job. At 2.62 x 5.75 x 5.5 inches in size, the DuPont water filter is one of the most compact models that we’ve ever attached to a faucet.

The chrome color looks great, so much that if you care about the appeal, this will add some aesthetic to your kitchen.

When we put the DuPont to performance taste, our primary expectation was that it would deliver the best results in a first attempt.

Given that it exceeded our expectations, we still have it attached to the water tap on our patio since we already have the Waterdrop model for indoor use.

From our test, we notice that this model reduced contaminants to a very great degree, leaving us with what we basically consider as soft water.

With DuPont, you worry less about foreign materials such as benzene, mercury, asbestos, lead, and capsules in water. At the end of the day, you get clean water with an improved taste that you can use for cleaning and drinking.

Let’s flip the other side of the coin on this one, shall we?

While our test confirms that the product delivers on its promise, we did notice some leaks after about 63 days of using the product. Maybe this is a rare special case.

But the drawback that everyone will notice after a while is that the filter doesn’t last long. You may need to replace it after 4 or 5 months give or take.

  • Affordable model that softens water fast
  • The replacement cartridges aren’t expensive
  • Quick and easy to install

  • Plastic design is fragile

3. Engdenton Faucet Water Filter for Well Water

If you need a faucet filter that can make well water safe for drinking and cooking, you should consider getting the Engdenton model. We highly recommend it because it’s effective in removing sand, rust, and dirt found in well water.

It’s also good in reducing chlorine and odor while inhibiting growth at the same time.

Engdenton is made of 304 stainless steel with a colorful finish to match your faucet. It’s lightweight, tough to the touch, and extremely durable.

Best whole house water filter for city water

When it comes to performance, this unit does quite well for the price point. At least you get pure water for home use. The filter should last long, requiring a replacement after supplying your household with about 320 gallons of water.

  • Clean dirt from well water and delivers  it in its purest form
  • Cheap faucet water filter with a decent shelf life

  • It may cause an oily effect
